MICROVAX/VMS TK50 KERMIT DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION April 1988 There are two TK50 distribution tapes, TKV1 and TKV2. TKV1 is equivalent to Kermit tapes A, B, and E (popular micros - A, popular minis & mainframes - B, and online documentation). TKV2 is equivalent to tapes C, D, and E (less popular micros, minis & mainframes, plus documentation). These tapes are readable on MicroVAX/VMS systems with BACKUP (not COPY). To read the tape: 1. SET DEFAULT to the directory under which you want the various Kermit subdirectories created. 2. Physically mount the TK50 cartridge, and type "MOUNT $TAPE1/FOREIGN". 3. Type "BACKUP/LOG $TAPE1/SAVE [.*]". After some time has passed -- about 30-60 minutes -- the files should be in several subdirectories of your current directory. These subdirectories will have names like [KERMIT], [KERMIT-2], [KERMIT-3], etc. For further information about Kermit distribution, including a current list of available Kermit programs, documentation, up-to-date ordering information, and a statement of commercial policy, write to: Kermit Distribution Columbia University Center for Computing Activities 612 West 115th Street New York, NY 10025 For further information about Kermit itself, consult the Kermit User Guide or the book "Kermit, A File Tranfer Protocol" by Frank da Cruz, Digital Press, Bedford MA 01730 (1987), order number EY-6705E-DP, call 1-800-343-8321 to order.
