It patches the progress bars, floating windows, dialog box backgrounds, and menu glitches in third party applications that are not yet Appearance-savvy to help them conform to the Mac OS 8 Platinum interface. It also substitutes Espi Sans Bold 10 for Chicago 12, since many people prefer Espi as the system font. Version 1.2.1 patches the indeterminate progress bars (barber poles) in MT-NewsWatcher 2.3.5, removes the dialog box patch for BBEdit that was causing problems, and fixes a glitch drawing default button borders. When you drag a window's title bar and Solid Dragging is active, the whole window image is moved instead of a dull-looking window outline. If the Update Windows option is also active, all windows are updated on the fly without waiting for you to release the mouse. Not as fast as the BeOS, but definitely better than the standard Mac OS behavior! * DragAnyWindow also allows you to easily move any kind of window, including dialogs, alerts, standard "Open" and "Save" dialogs, game windows and other non-movable windows. It lets you bring back to the desktop any window that has gone out of sight, or center the front window on the main screen with a single keystroke. These options are very useful for old applications designed for the 9" screen (which often use fixed windows) and for moving modal dialogs and windows behind them. EasyMail provides the following features: - easy to setup and use - seemless use with other applications (no inits, cdevs to install) - message encryption - up to 99999 users allowed on a registered server (when registered and a license pack is purchased) - uses AppleShare to manage its file structure, so its secure and effective - PowerPC native and optimized for 680x0 (FAT binary) - requires NO server software to be run to manage mail/files (simply install and make sure the server machine is on) - includes AppleGuide help files for on-line help - Update function (to provide an easy way to update your copy or to fix bugs) - low cost (only US $75 to register the server, including a 5 user pack) - customizable help files - support for sending files and folders as well as mail to users NOTE: EasyMial is not like Eudora, SMTP, SNMP or POP. EasyMail is similar to PowerTalk, CE Softwares' QuickMail, or cc:Mail (it works over LocalTalk, EtherNet, or any compatible AppleTalk/AppleShare file system), yet costs a fraction of the cost. Requirements: EasyMail requires MacOS(TM) version 7.0.x or higher, a minimum of 4 MB of System RAM (2 MB of application RAM) for color, or 3 MB of System RAM (1 MB of application RAM) for B&W. Fetch-O-Matic allows web authors to freely create and update files locally without needing to keep track of their work, and then automatically catalog the alterations and update the website. Fetch-O-Matic differs from other available synchronization and maintenance schemes in that it does not require any local machine to have a complete site copy. For example, one might decide to grab a few pages and change them (and/or add some new files) from a Powerbook. Later, the site copy on the primary machine can be quickly brought up-to-date with just two clicks - without having to remember what was changed or open the Powerbook. Fetch-O-Matic is extremely easy to use. Novice web authors in search of a simple way to update a personal web page won't be intimidated by its power. Experienced hands will find that previously dreaded operations such as multi-file search and replace, with the subsequent headache of tracking down and uploading scattered altered files, are rendered painless. Transfer errors such as uploading/downloading to the wrong directory are a thing of the past. If several people are maintaining a site they are protected from treading on each other's updates. Fetch-O-Matic was conceived and developed to fill a need in servicing a large site (http://www.filmscouts.com). Uploads and downloads of thousands of files at once have been performed with ease. But even on a site with just a few pages, Fetch-O-Matic will ease the updating chores. Fetch-O-Matic requires Dartmouth's FTP client "Fetch", AppleScript, the scripting addition Jon's Commands, and, optionally, Alessandro Levi Montalcini's "List Files" (providing a significant speed improvement for large sites), all of which are readily available online. Fetch-O-Matic runs on any Mac OS machine with reasonable (8mb+) RAM running System 7 or 8. It runs in the background. It is shareware with a single-user license fee of $20. There is a free 30-day trial period. The complete documentation is available online at the Fetch-O-Matic home page, http://www.filmscouts.com/software/fom.html *** Version note: this release fixes a bug in v.2.0 which affected certain users, rendering Fetch-O-Matic inoperable on their machines. If Fetch-O-Matic 2.0 is running on your machine, this release won't change anything, but all users should download it anyway because if v2.0 is moved to another machine, it might not run there. *** [Archived as /info-mac/comm/inet/fetch-o-matic-201.hqx; 420K] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Oct 1997 07:31:49 -0700 From: BHuey@worldnet.att.net Subject: [*] Font Gander Pro 1.2.hqx Font Gander Pro 1.2.hqx Son of the original shareware hit, now better than ever! With this version, I have tried to make the Bot operation fool proof--you should see no operational errors if you cancel out of connection attempts, you can set preferences for just about any aspect of what the Bot does, and it should aggressively check and maintain your connection. New Features: *You can escape from a connection attempt by hitting the cancel button, and the Bot will ask if you want to retry or quit. *You can set the idle time period to one of three possible settings. *If you use multiple accounts, simply enter the information for the account you want to use the Bot with, and it will connect to that account. *Easily change user preferences by launching the Bot while pressing the option key. This stack also incorporates a patient database manager which stores all notes written along with past medical history, allergies, medication taken which can later be retrieved when needed to write another note for a future visit. This stack is biased towards a pediatric population but can be used in any specialty. This stack is 2 years in the making stemming for my need to write notes faster in a 15 minute/appointment setting seeing 20-30 pediatric patients a day. This stack/application also cures the plague of the horrible handwriting. I wrote this stack during clinic to get out as many kinks as possible which will allow you to write your note in less time than it would usually take you to write it by hand. It will help you organize your continuity clinic for the pediatric/medical resident or for the solo, small practise that you may be in. The PatientPro mainstack consist of an area for entering the history of present illness along with past medical history, meds, allergy, social, family, developmental history. This stack also contains a section for atopic and asthma history (since I at one time was considering a fellowship in allergy/immunology). The physical exam section consists of a detailed complete exam with clickable buttons to hightlight the pertinent positve or negative physical findings. The assessment/impression section allows you to input diagnosis and a special drug feature that will calculate common pediatric drug doses if the weight is given. It also contains a follow up section to click on the proper follow up instructions. You can then print your note in a varios formats, though this stack is biased towards air force medical forms. The patients stack is the database which basically organize your patients for follow up and easy info retrieval. Special addition to the patient stack is the ability to keep track of all weights and heights of each visit and to automatically calculate peak flows for asthma patients if the height is entered. Anyways, it's difficult to explain the many features. Try it, it's not big and may be just what you need instead of speading hundreds of dollars for big fat programs designed by programmers and not by a physician, yours truely! By entering a test topic with questions and answers separated by a comma, you can generate 6 different variations of multiple choice quzzing or fillin and each quiz is different with each use. You can use this stack to learn vocabulary, spelling, concept understanding, foreign language. This stack also integrates Speech Manager which aid in giving spelling tests and with Spanish Macintalk can also aid in learning Spanish effectively for you or your students. A number of teachers use this stack in their classroom. Some have actually use it to adminster quizzes because this stack will record the scores of your students and can keep a record of missed answers for later review. Some teachers actually use this stack for remedial purposes so no child can move on to the next spelling test until they can spell all the words in the previous week's list. Try it, you will like it. New to to version 2.5 - ability to check your quiz list for errors that can later cause problems in quizzing - enables selection of different voices within the stack from eg. Catalina for Spanish or Victoria for English - allows voice changes in pitch, amplitude or variation of intonation - capacity to customize types of phrases after each questioned anser such as "Very good, " "Muy bien," "wrong, try again," etc. - removed bugs which results in the selection of the wrong quiz set - auto capitalization of first character of each test item and removal of unwanted spaces in your test list [Archived as /info-mac/edu/quiz-pro-25.hqx; 96K] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Oct 1997 07:32:04 -0700 From: pri@mac1.rrzn.uni-hannover.de Subject: [*] Romanian Support for Netscape 2, 3, 4 These three patches add Romanian support to Netscape Navigator 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0.
