The file may be included on your CD-ROMs Snak is a program that will let you participate in discussions in Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channels. IRC channels are virtual meeting rooms on the Internet, where people all over the world can have real-time conversations. IRC consists of many different networks, often with thousands of channels, each focused on a location or subject, and anything that is typed into the channel will be seen by the other members. This makes it possible to have a real-time conversation with people all over the world. You can also setup private channels without problems and use them to have private, real-time talks with friends, family or business associates. The largest of the IRC networks often have as many as 35.000 participants and almost anyone can find a channel that talks about a topic that is of interest to that particular person. It is estimated that at any given time more than 80.000 people are using IRC. Some of the most significant features in version 4: easy access to MP3 files offered in the MP3 IRC channels, a channel bar for easy switching between channels, a consolidated list and information window, a divided main text with resizable text and nickname areas for better text display, a ban list in the channel settings, configurable join menu, script support for event handlers for extensive customizability, more sample scripts and much more. A full version history and list of new features can be found on the Snak web site at http://www.snak.com/SnakHistory.html [Archived as /info-mac/comm/inet/snak-401-ppc.hqx; 1465 K] ------------------------------ Date: 23 Jun 2000 From: Panda Systems To: Subject: [*] PandoCalendar - Customizable desktop calendar for your Mac. I give permission for my program to be included on the Info-Mac CD-ROM. Abstract: PandoCalendar is a useful Mac-only program places a fully functional calendar on your desktop. The look is completely customizable. You can change the calendar font and its size, and the calendar's background color; you can center the current week (so you are always able to look back and ahead a full month at a time), display the numerical number of the weeks of the year, display the calendar with European style weeks (Monday being the first day and Sunday being the last), assign notes to any day of the year by clicking on the day in the calendar, and set alarms to remind you of time sensitive events. You can also have PandoCalendar automatically plot the days you work. Great for people who don't have a Monday-Friday work schedule! Version 5.5.1 - Added support for Weekend and Weekday to the Day of week type of recurring note. Resolved a conflict with Kaleidoscope that could cause a crash when opening the Recurring Notes window. Fixed a bug that could cause the calendar not to redraw when using a QuickView corner with Hide calendar in background enabled. Fixed a bug that could cause a Day of month type of recurring note to display in a month with fewer days than necessary if Adjust for day of week was enabled. The salient symptoms are as follows: On switching on the MacPlus, without any SCSI connections, I get the Question Mark Mac then after inserting a 800k floppy as the start up disk I get the happy Mac for 3 seconds and then the floppy is ejected and I get the Question Mark again. ( The start up disk has a System Folder and SCSI Probe version 4.3. The System Folder contains "System" version 6.0.2 and "Finder" version 6.1. I have later OS versions but they are too big to place on the 800k floppy start up disk.) * My attempts at repair* I have tried the following: A new clock battery. Pressed Command & option keys until after inserting the start up disk. Pressed Command + option + P + R keys to try to reset the PRAM. I don't think this works on a MacPlus but I tried it. I have long since parted with the original start up disks for the MacPlus. It would be helpful if someone would e-mail me with an attachment of a start up disk that contained the most up to date system items capable of being placed on a 800k floppy. Any suggestions as to how I get my old & trusted MacPlus back to life, it is used as the first & only computer of my grandson. *Likely events that may have caused the problem* The MacPlus was working fine, I connected up a Quisk 20MB hard disk as the start up disk without any problem it mounted automatically. It had a System version 7.5.1. I then connected a Syquest 44MB cartridge drive in addition to the Quisk disk, again it worked fine. The Syquest had to be mounted using the SCSIProbe. I tried to get the Syquest as the only drive ie. without the Quisk disk but I could not get it to mount as a start up disk. I went back to having both disks on the SCSI and tried to get the Syquest to mount by holding down the Command & Option keys whilst I double clicked the Finder on the Syquest. I am not certain but I think this was the point when the MacPlus started its refusal to boot. Another observation is that when I try to mount the Quisk onto my Power G3 266, the latter freezes. This also means I cannot gain access to the Quisk disk. Help please to get an old warrior onto his feet!!!! Followup versions of BetterTelnet, and Telnet 2.7 and 3.0 all were plagued with programming errors yielding Type 1 errors on my system. Luckily, NCSA has kept the old version on their FTP server. As I mentioned in my prior Info-mac digest, NCSA Telnet has FTP server capability. So for those of you who stopped using it because of its not being robust, 2.6 may be the answer.
