Instructions for configuring emacs VM and emacs Gnus to allow a single UNIX URL click to cause you Mac to access the same URL may be found at . This is probably only useful for you if you frequently run MacOS and UNIX behind a firewall/NAT server, you frequently want to view/use URLs from your mac which are located on your UNIX box, or you have access to both OS's displays at your work area. Source code is available from . WARNING Do not use the RmoreUrlServer program on a Macintosh directly reachable from the internet (not behind a firewall or NAT server). The simple protocol used the the RmoreUrlServer is not safe to internet connected machines not behind a firewall. It would be easy for an attacker to download files or send you browser to any webpage if you are not protected. This means your Macintosh should behind a firewall and the port you specify in your RmoreUrlServer should be protected/filtered. If you don't know what this means ask someone at your site/ISP. It can also be used to manage the launching of applications upon startup or when your computer has remained idle for a certain amount of time. *The repeat pop-up menu is now updated correctly in systems running on MacOS 8.1; *The AM/PM button now works in systems running on MacOS 8.1; *Periodicity of "Every half hour" and "Every hour" corrected in 68k code running on MacOS 8.1 thru 9.0.4 and PowerPC code running system software earlier than MacOS 9; oddly enough this bug didn't crop up in PowerMacs on MacOS 9; apparently this was caused by a bug in the MacOS itself; I had to rewrite Scheduler in order to work around this system software bug that, occasionally, made Scheduler quit with an error of type 2; *The Edit menu and the Close item on the File menu are now disabled correctly when no window is visible; and *Scheduler no longer freezes when you launch an application upon idle time or when Scheduler is in the background; [Archived as /info-mac/app/time/scheduler-211.hqx; 459 K] ------------------------------ Date: 23 Aug 2000 From: sweet@kagi.com (S.Ichise) To: Subject: [*] SweetMail 1.8.3e SweetMail is an internet e-mail client for Macintosh that provides most powerful features with sweet interface. Does this make sense? Is there a not too complicated solution? Thanks for your patience. Different problem My Internet server doesn't like dealing with anything less than System 8. I use System 7.01 with an elderly LC 2 and while it is limited it is ok. But my present problems are caused by trying to operate a Powermac 7200/75 system7.5.2 ? This machine used to be on a network in a college and insists that I switch Appletalk on. I think the machine doesn't realise it is independent now. It also doesnt realise it is connected to my modem . I must have given my modem software away Supraexpress 33.6. Anyway these are the random thoughts on an Autumn day in the emerald isle. Anyone care to unscramble them. I'm off to Sligo and the Yeats country for two days so Thankyou all if you are still with me. Tom Ideas Tom Thomas Murphy Kilkenny. Word 98 can't because of the program's shared libraries. I would like a word processor which I could run on my PowerBook (firewire) without spinning up my hard drive. .-Robert-- -------------------------------- --Info-Mac-Digest-- End of Info-Mac Digest ******************************
