Read Me Welcome to Gammasoft Office. Gammasoft Office is the simpler way to office. It's the beginning of a four-dimensional, Microsoft Office-compatable, simple multi-function program. Of course, since it's in its development stages, there is no color, MSOffice compatability, or four-dimensionality involved. Gammasoft Office contains seven different programs, each with it's own functions: * Gamma Central: simple to-do list and write-only text-only word processor * GSWrite: simple word-processor with only global style settings * GS Spreads: simple spreadsheet with 7 columns and 22 rows * Pre Sents: basic presentation program * GSBase: little database with only 12 fields per record * Pict-Sure: tiny little black-and-white MacPaint-based painting program * R++: our own little version of BASIC. There is a launch pad and an online help system included. To install this version of Gammasoft Office, double-click the Install program. If you just want to test it and you aren't sure if you want it taking up hard disk space, double-click on the Run From Disk icon. You will need HyperCard 2.1 for this. If you don't have it, just copy the "hc" and "Home" files from the HyperCard folder to your hard disk. HyperCard only takes up about 754K of hard disk space. Gammasoft Office will only need 429K of hard disk space. With both Gammasoft Office and HyperCard installed, it will only take up 1183K, which is just over a megabyte. After installation, to open Gammasoft Office, just double-click on the Gammasoft Office icon and, when the program is done loading, click the name of the program you want to use. NEVER open a Gammasoft Office program by double-clicking the program's own, private icon. The same goes for documents. The program must be launched from the launch pad, and the documents must be opened from the program they were created in. The private icons you see for the individual programs and documents are just uncompiled code run by the Gammasoft Office program. For more information, see the online help file. About Aerial: Desktop Pictures: Aerial was inspired by the stirring satellite and high orbit photos that have become as common as the daily TV weather report. I wasn't trying to illustrate the subject but to express a feeling: the luminosity of our glowing planet enveloping jagged islands and great mountain ranges. About Aurora: These images were inspired by the magnificent Hubble Space photographs. Aurora is meant to express a sense of awe. About Lightning: 300,000 volts per foot (1 million volts per meter) shooting through a half-inch channel of air. The word "awesome" must have been coined watching a lightning storm. These images are variations on the theme of lightning; sort of the way a musician will explore a melody, seeing where it will go, where it will take him/her. About The Planets: "The Planets" was inspired by the Mars mission. Just control-click on a document and choose from the applications on your di= sks that can open it in the pop up list. You can save yourself whole seconds of searching each time you want to open an Adobe PhotoShop=81 file in GraphicConverter for example (hey, this adds up). Only applications that can open all the documents in the selection appear in the popup menu, so it doesn't take long= to find the application that you want. The Open With Package is Shareware $10. Version 2.0.1 fixes an installer bug, which stopped installation on international systems. Users who have version 2.0 working need not upgrade. This software may be distributed on commercial CDs. Kicho makes no other modifications to the keyboard's behavior. Because Kicho is an application and not an extension or control panel, it can be activated and deactivated on-the-fly, without restarting, and is unlikely to cause system conflicts. However, being a background application, it's still invisible to the user. Kicho requires Mac OS 8 and a PowerPC processor. It is sold as shareware at a price of $10 for a single-user license. Site and worldwide licenses are available. http://www.trivectus.com/ mailto:info@trivectus.com [Archived as /info-mac/cfg/kicho-10.hqx; 177K] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 08:54:54 -0400 From: abrody@smart.net Subject: (Q) National Geographic Maps CD-ROM sound quality is lousy Dear Digest readers, I have tried on VirtualPC G3 2.1.3 with Windows 98, Softwindows 95, and OrangePC 620 3.1 with Windows 95. All yield the same results. When I play any audio files from the history of map making, I get voice masked by very loud static. So loud in fact I have to turn it down or else hurt my ears. Yet John Madden's Football 98 works fine on the same version of VirtualPC. Softwindows 95 and VirtualPC I have tried on a Powerbook G3 series 233 Mhz, and OrangePC 620 I tried on my 7200. Any idea what could be causing the lousy sound quality? The videos seem to work well in terms of the visual work, but it is nice to have an audio explanation of what is being seen. Please forward this to any PC newsgroup you think might be appropriate. I don't have much time to read those newsgroups, BTW VirtualPC G3 is the fastest emulator I have ever seen. It doesn't keep you waiting at all. Thank you. Sincerely, abrody@smart.net -------------------------------- --Info-Mac-Digest-- End of Info-Mac Digest ******************************
