The Map

The Emperor map is generated by random whenever you start a new game. It consists of a number of islands or continents of different size. Spread over those islands is a number of cities.

Land tiles are displayed green-brown on your screen (representing grassland and forests), water tiles are blue (light blue if a coastline is near). Cities are represented as strange red things.

With the exception of cities, only one Unit may be positioned on a tile at the same time. Units can move straight or diagonal in adjacent tiles.

Watch out! You can see enemy units (as well as the owner of an enemy city) only if you have a unit or city present in an adjacent tile.

Every player starts with three cities (your cities are marked by your flag in the upper right corner). It is your aim to expand from these cities and find and conquer other cities, until eventually the whole map is in your possession.

When the game starts, most of the map will be unexplored; you can only see your own three cities and the surrounding area. In order to find more cities and islands, you'll have to explore the map with your units.

You can use the Birdeye View to get an overview about your position on the map.

Usually the starting positions are assigned as follows:
 Player #1 upper left corner
 Player #2 lower right corner
 Player #3 lower left corner
 Player #4 upper right corner
 Player #5 upper middle
 Player #6 lower middle
