File - Find

Find .. -- The file manager will assist in finding
the location of named files in the user
accessible directories, or the location of files
containing specified target text. By selecting
the File option from the menu bar and selecting
the Find .. option the user initiates the Find
Tool which opens a dialog box. The Search for
data field permits the user to type in the file
name or the text string contained in a file that
the user is trying to locate. The dialog box
contains a toggle button that permits specifying
the type of search requested. Toggling the File
Name button sets the search to target a file
name. Toggling the File Content button directs
Find .. to search files for text contained within
the target files. Find .. attempts to return the
list of files containing the text in the search
specification. The File Find .. option supports
typical UNIX wild card file specifications. The
dialog box also permits entering the name of the
starting directory for the search. When looking
for filenames, the Find Tool can be set to work
from the specified directory down the directory
structure. A -- through directories toggle -- has
been included for that purpose. The default
directory is the current directory and will appear
in the directory field of the dialog box.
Alt+Shift+(f) or Meta+(f), (f) open the Find Tool
          dialog box.
