The <Apply> button will apply the values as defined in\n\
the control area of the window. When this action is\n\
taken, mdb will report or somehow expose the result of\n\
the action.
!

The <Cancel> button will dismiss the window without\n\
performing any additional actions.

*helpText2: HCS Case Sensitive:\n\
The <Case Sensitive> toggle button will enable/disable\n\
case sensitivity when you are searching the database.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText3: HCN Configurator:\n\
The <Configurator> button will launch the configurator.\n\
\n\
There are six classes of Item types available for defi-\n\
nition. The behavior of each Item class is dependent\n\
on the Parent managing the database item. The follow-\n\
ing Parents are predefined:\n\
1: For single line Text items and Radio Buttons.\n\
2: For main category Toggles and Radio Buttons.\n\
3-4: For attribute Toggle Buttons and Radio Buttons.\n\
5: For variable length Scrolled Text Fields.\n\
\n\
Parent 2-4 may host Single line Text Fields as well.\n\
\n\
There is also means to define a NULL Item, simply to be\n\
used as non-functional filling. Use NULL items if\n\
there is a need skip or obscure database items without\n\
having them permanently deleted.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText4: HCP Copy and Paste:\n\
The <Copy and Paste> button will launch a convenience\n\
window with some key fields of the database's items ex-\n\
posed in a format that can be pasted to other text win-\n\
dow clients\n\
\n\
SEE ALSO:\n\
   Format.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText5: HDI DB Items:\n\
The mdb item registration is based upon two predefined\n\
KeyItems. That is, an item is titled and saved based on\n\
the values of these KeyItems.\n\
\n\
There is at least one predefined KeyItem. The second\n\
KeyItem is optional.\n\
In the Example Layout MdbTest, the KeyItems are high-\n\
lighted with BOLD text fonts as well as with colors.\n\
Any changes of these fields will cause mdb to register\n\
a new database Item if it is saved using the <Save>\n\
button. Please note the consequences of this: An Item\n\
is NOT updated if these fields are changed and saved.\n\
Instead they are registered as new items with all val-\n\
ues of the remaining fields inherited from the original\n\
item.\n\
In the Example Layout MdbTest the field Company Name is\n\
the Primary KeyItem, and the field Name (of employee)\n\
is the Secondary KeyItem. The visual format of this ex-\n\
ample is:\n\
Name of Company [Name of employee],\n\
..as visualized by the List All window and the list in\n\
the Print window.\n\
When you are using the <Search>, <Save> and <Delete>\n\
buttons, mdb will act on database items as defined by\n\
the values of these KeyItems.\n\

*helpText7: HEM E-mail:\n\
This configuration parameter defines an E-mail Item.\n\
This item will appear as an ordinary Text Field item\n\
PLUS a button to launch the Quick Mail window. The Ar-\n\
guments defines a set of Item numbers to define the\n\
format for exporting the database in Netscape's HTML\n\
address-book.html file format.\n\
\n\
Define:\n\
        6 0 8\n\
           ^_^_ Description, ie. Phone, Company.\n\
        ^_ Name of Person.\n\
\n\
Nickname will be extracted out of Name of Person.\n\
\n\
SEE ALSO:\n\

!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText8: HEX Export DB:\n\
The <Export DB> button will launch a file selection\n\
window to export the current database file. The\n\
database format is in a simple TAB separated format or\n\
a HTML format for Netscape's Address Book. The Item\n\
Filter could be used to limit the export by a name pat-\n\
tern.\n\
\n\
SEE ALSO:\n\
   Format, E-mail.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText9: HCC Folder Class:\n\
This configuration parameter defines the Folder Class\n\
for this particular database definition. Class and Lay-\n\
out must agree on that they are using a compatible\n\
database. If you want to define a new Class/Layout from\n\
scratch, then this PLUS the Layouts are the parameters\n\
to redefine.\n\
\n\
SEE ALSO:\n\
   Layout.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText10: HCG Folder PATH:\n\
This configuration parameter defines the directory\n\
where globally accessible databases may reside.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText11: HCI Folder Title:\n\
This configuration parameter defines the Title for your\n\
Database.\n\
It is not used internally.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText12: HFO Folder:\n\
The <Folder> menu list the folders as defined in the\n\
configuration file for mdb. Use the Configurator to\n\
add/delete folders. The folder name "private" is a re-\n\
served key word that will make sure that the private\n\
folder is installed in the user's home directory acces-\n\
sible by the creator only. The folder may be write pro-\n\
tected (default) to avoid mistakes. Please note that\n\
the write protect does not alter the operating system's\n\
view of your permission to read and write a folder.
!
!---------------------------------------------------------
!
*helpText13: HFR Format:\n\
Common:\n\
The numbers in the Format Field refers to the text\n\
fields as exposed in the main Item window. A blank\n\
between digits means that a new line will be in-\n\
serted. The `,' character will concatenate two\n\
     items.\n\
\n\
Phone Book:\n\
The Format Field for the Phone Book has two addi-\n\
tional control characters: The `:' character is\n\
used to form an alternative string if the first\n\
string is empty. As an example you can define to\n\
print the direct phone number to a person if the\n\
direct number is registered, else the switch board\n\
number will be used. The second control character\n\
is a `-' character followed by a number to define\n\
     a limit and a TAB stop for a field.\n\
\n\
Export and Import:\n\
The Format Field for the Import DB and Export DB\n\
windows will allow you to define a range of im-\n\
ported/exported items. If you leave this field\n\
blank, then all items will be imported/exported.\n\
You cold also define a range in the format:\n\
     0-5 8-11 15-19 etc, in order to explicitly im-\n\
port/export the defined items. This could be use-\n\
ful when there is a need to extract items between\n\
     different (incompatible) layouts.\n\
\n\
SEE ALSO:\n\

*helpText14: HGC Global Change:\n\
The <Global Change> button will launch a new window to\n\
assist you to change the value of a predefined Item\n\
field.\n\
It provides means to go from one database Item to an-\n\
other, and then, if desired, apply a the new value to\n\
the defined field.\n\
For example, assume that a registered database Item\n\
change anything that applies to all registered members\n\
of that item, then you can select the affected field,\n\
enter the new value, and then go to the following items\n\
and quickly apply the same value.\n\
\n\
This window should be used in conjunction with the main\n\
screen's <Search> button, or the Global Search window\n\
(or possibly the List All window). It will become ac-\n\
tive provided that there is a valid Item exposed in the\n\
main widow.\n\
\n\
The <Apply> button will become active provided that the\n\
folder is in Writable state (See Folder), and it is\n\
equivalent to the main screen's <Save> button.\n\
\n\
The <Next> button is equivalent to the main screen's\n\
<Search> button, and you can use either of them. This\n\
button DO NOT apply any changes. It just takes you from\n\
one Item to the next.\n\
\n\
The <arrow> buttons should be used to select the de-\n\
sired field. Please note that only text items are sub-\n\
ject for a change, i.e, database items represented by\n\
<toggles> are ignored. In addition the Key Item fields\n\
(See DB Items) are skipped since any changes to these\n\
fields would cause mdb to register a new item, and this\n\
utility is provided exclusively as an update function.\n\
Lastly the variable length field Comments/Remarks is\n\
ignored.\n\
\n\
The main screen's history button <Previous> is tem-\n\
porarily inhibited while this window is exposed.

*helpText15: HGS Global Search:\n\
The <Global Search> button will launch a new window\n\
with capabilities to overrule the default search behav-\n\
ior of mdb.\n\
This window will expose a command field and a history\n\
field. Use the command field to enter the text string\n\
to be searched for. The search will consider any text\n\
within an Item except for buttons which are represent-\n\
ing a state rather than text strings.\n\
If a pattern match occurs, then the main window of mdb\n\
will expose the Item in which the text resides. In ad-\n\
dition the field below the command field in the Global\n\
Search window will expose the field title of the the\n\
detected string.\n\
Use the <Next> button to continue the search using the\n\
same text string.\n\
The search is case sensitive according to the state of\n\
the <Case Sensitive> button in the <File> pull down\n\
menu.\n\
\n\
Limitations:\n\
The Global Search will detect only one (the first) oc-\n\
currence of a string within an item.\n\
\n\
Since Toggle Buttons represents a state (on/off) of an\n\
Item they can not be searched for. However, Radio But-\n\
tons (shaped as diamonds) holds text that can be\n\
searched for.

*helpText24: HPO Print Options:\n\
The <Print Options> window is used to define the final\n\
print out style, referred to as Type in the Print win-\n\
dow. There is one of three styles to choose:\n\
\n\
1: Full Information: will print all registered informa-\n\
tion for each Item listed in the print window's\n\
scrolled list area.\n\
\n\
2: Phone Book: will print selected items in a format\n\
suitable for several predefined Personal Organizers.\n\
\n\
3: Addressing Labels: will print addressing labels for\n\
all items listed in the print window's scrolled list\n\
area.\n\
\n\
By enabling the Addressing Labels, the upper part of\n\
the Print Options window will be activated. The Scales\n\
Left, Center and Right is used to tune the position of\n\
each label on a three column label sheet. Likewise the\n\
Margin Scale is used to tune the distance from the up-\n\
per edge of the label sheet to the upper edge of the\n\
first row of labels on the sheet. The Height Scale is\n\
the height of each label, and finally the Font Scale is\n\
used to select a font size.\n\
\n\
Below the Scales there are three Text Fields: Nrow de-\n\
fines how many rows of labels there is on the label\n\
sheet.\n\
\n\
Limit is used to truncate a line so they are not grow-\n\
ing outside the label and finally Format which is de-\n\
scribed in help Format.\n\
\n\
The two buttons on the right side is used to select\n\
among two pre-defined label sheet layouts. The Scales\n\
should be used to tune in a new label sheet and then\n\
the result should be saved to the configuration as but-\n\
ton <PresetA> or <PresetB>.\n\

*helpText25: HPR Print:\n\
The <Print> button will launch a new window with sever-\n\
al print options available. The upper part of the win-\n\
dow shows all different categories of selection crite-\n\
ria of the database, represented as Toggle Buttons. The\n\
left column of buttons is the Main Category Toggles\n\
while the other two columns are the Alternative Catego-\n\
ry Toggles.\n\
The Main Category should define the type of the regis-\n\
tered item, i.e, customer, manufacturer, consultants\n\
etc. The Alternative Category should describe at-\n\
tributes of the Main Category. This could be cars (man-\n\
ufacturer of) or any service or relevant attribute pro-\n\
vided by the main category.\n\
\n\
Below the <Toggle Buttons> resides a list window. The\n\
list will be updated post an <Apply> command. The items\n\
in the list are the ones that are due for a hard copy\n\
print post the <Print> command. You can choose to\n\
print only one of them by double click on one particu-\n\
lar item.\n\
Likewise you can select one or several items from the\n\
list by using the <Ctrl> key + the left mouse button.\n\
\n\
The Filter field can be used to reduce the list by name\n\
patterns.\n\
\n\
The Copies field tells how many hard copies that are\n\
due for a print This field will restore to one copy\n\
post a print command.\n\
\n\
The hard copy print will be formatted according to the\n\
the Type Label that defaults to Full information. By\n\
using the <Print Options> button you will launch a new\n\
window that will assist you to choose among Full infor-\n\
mation, Addressing Labels, and Phone Book.\n\
For a complete descriptions of available options, see\n\
help Print Options.\n\
\n\
Hints:\n\
Although the Print window primarily is used to select\n\
and print database items, it can also be used to just\n\
view and extract vital information out of the database.\n\
By using the <Toggle Buttons> and the <Apply> button,\n\
mdb will list items, and report the number of a partic-\n\
ular database category. As an example, (referring to\n\
the MdbTest Layout) you can find out how many VARs that\n\
are registered, or how many VARs who are interested in\n\
the Unix operating system etc.\n\
\n\
Print Option Dependencies:\n\
The label print assumes that your machine hosts troff\n\

been typed in as the KeyItem field (See help DB Items).\n\
The search is case sensitive according to the state of\n\
the <Case Sensitive> button found in the <File> pull\n\
down menu.\n\
The search will evaluate the entire string or a part of\n\
a string to find a match. In practice you could think\n\
of the search pattern as with a leading, and a trailing\n\
wildcard.\n\
As soon as you have a match, you can use the <Search>\n\
button again to find yet another Item with the same or\n\
partly the same pattern.\n\
