This is a brand new testing version of GNU Bayonne. This testing
version is being used to develop the GNU Scripting Language 2 release,
which contains concepts like script modules, function libraries, and
virtual hosting. This release is being used only for testing, and while
it appears to be functional in a general sense, and may be installed,
results may vary.

What this testing version also includes is multi-driver support. This
allows one to run a Bayonne server with multiple families of cards, or
with both computer telephony cards and non-hardware specific drivers.
This release contains the experimental OpenH323 driver which can be used
to create Bayonne h323 application servers.

This testing release only requires GNU Common C++ 1.1. GNU ccAudio and
GNU ccScript are now embedded directly in the GNU Bayonne distribution.

The manual has been updated to reflect the testing release at least in
part. There may still be errors, gaps, and ommisions. Documentation is
now automatically generated for you during make assuming configure finds
the nessisary tools to do so.

The way configuration files are used is changed. There is now a
/etc/bayonne directory, and this holds a variety of configure files.
The single bayonne.conf file is no longer used here. In addition, the
scheduler (and bayonne.sched) is now gone as well.

Many obscure and strange features have been stripped out of the server,
as well as support for direct PBX scripting. This was done to better
focus on those features that represent the core Bayonne feature set,
rather than on incomplete or experimental things. This will result in a
smaller, cleaner, and easier to maintain stable core server.

Many other things, both large and small, have been changed. Do not
assume this server configures, installs, or runs like any previous
Bayonne release, or that old scripts will work without change for the
current (Release II) Bayonne scripting language.

Any questions related to this or other test releases may be sent to the
bayonne-bug@gnu.org mailing list or to me directly at dyfet@gnu.org.
