Sample files for use as voices by csf files
-------------------------------------------

These are some samples to start you off in case you don't have any
already. In particular, these are needed by the example files in
`sod2-examples.tar.gz'. However, in addition to this, it's reasonable
to consider these samples a kind of `standard library' which can be
used in csf files you distribute to others, without having to bundle
the required samples.

These samples should be freely distributable - there isn't any
copyright on these that I'm aware of, and as far as I can tell,
they're public domain. Most of them are just sampled from various
synths. `earthdrum.22' and `harp.22' were converted from two of the
sounds in the Nethack distribution (in sys/share/sounds) - they were
said to be public domain.

They're all raw 8-bit. Signed ones end in `.ami' and should usually be
played at 8400Hz - unsigned ones end in `.8' for 8400Hz, `.12' for
12048Hz, `.15' for 14925Hz, `.22' for 22000Hz. Numbers any larger
directly indicate the sample rate to use.

You should do `make install' as root to install the samples in the
place sod2 (by default) expects them to be.
